Tissue culture facility

The Cell culture facility is equipped with flow hoods, CO2 incubators, inverted phase contrast microscope, facilitating primary cultures and cultivation of established cell lines. A sterile room equipped with UV lamps and the availability of BSL2 and BSL3 facilities enable the researchers for efficient contamination free cell culture. The cell culture facility also harbours an Electroporator for efficient transfection and automated cell counter which ensures reliable and rapid counting of cells. This facility is well-equipped with liquid nitrogen storage tanks for long term storage of the cell lines.

Ultra Centrifuges

The high performance Avanti J-30I is equipped with Swinging-bucket and fixed-angle rotors providing maximum separation forces in excess of 100,000 x g at speeds up to 30,000 rpm. It also boasts of the Fastest acceleration and deceleration times with exclusive SR Drive** technology. We also have the Optima L100-XP ultra centrifuge, which utilizes the most advanced materials and technology to achieve the high performance needed – up to 100,000 rpm – for extending the boundaries of research. Plus, the air-cooled design of the drives delivers the most energy-efficient ultracentrifugation system. The imbalance-tolerant Optima L-XP drive safely accommodates tubes that are under- or over-filled by as much as 10%.

Nucleic Acid Quantification Systems

The biobank is equipped with the Qubit 3.0 Fluorometer , the GE Nanovue system and Agilent’s Bioanalyzer 2100 for accurate quantification of DNA / RNA / microRNA and to estimate the integrity of the RNA extracted.

Ultrasonicator

The facility also has a focussed ultrasonicator from Covaris (M220) to enable the fragmentation of DNA into the required size for library construction and further Next generation sequencing.

Automated Liquid Handling System

The Biomek 4000 Automated workstation from Beckman Coulter serves as an ideal option for the lab, helping in routines day-to-day pipetting, maintain quality standards and in producing reproducible & reliable results. It has a pipetting range from 1 to 1000 µl.
